Possum’s Heart

2009 July 5

If you would like to read Possum’s Heart, the picture book I’ve written for Possum to help him in the lead up to his open heart surgery, you can find it over on my writing blog, The Unutterable Phrase. Please feel free to share this with anyone else who has a child going through the same thing.

Karen; I hope you don’t mind, but I thought perhaps if I wrote a post about your family’s experience & story and linked to your blogs so they could read it themself: that it might help other families to find resources (both in AU ans US) for those needing more information in similar circumstances. I sent you the pingback already, but wanted you to know why I did it. Oh! Also wanted to mention that you might find the Parent Advice & Newsletter from Texas Children’s Hospital useful too. They are a world-renowned Pediatric hospital with major Cardiology, Oncology, and Orthopedic departments. The links are in my post, if you might find time to see them and bookmark the links for your later use.

Love & Light to you & family; Talula.

Talula, that would be more than fine. I once heard someone say, “Why let a good trial go to waste?” If we can help someone else in this process that would be wonderful!! Thanks so much for your care.

Honey! my little connection may help a few folks – But that little book of yours “Possum’s Heart” is not only going to help your precious little guy sail through this ordeal; it is going to ROCK the world of pediatric cardiology. Thousands of families are in need of just such a book to give them a grip on how to prepare their children for such a traumatic experience. I have a feeling that even your family’s doctors will want a copy to give out to their patients. What with all the worry you have on your mind right now – it’s not the time to discuss it properly just yet; but I believe that Texas Children’s Hospital here would be a terrific market for that little jewel. People come here (Texas Children’s) from all over the world for all types of children’s “inoperable” problems. The staff at TCH work miracles everyday! When its the right time, we can dig further into this absolutely perfect market for your ‘positive outlook’ books.

Oh yes, don’t worry about those brain fuzzies – it perfectly natural, you are mentally exhausted. Use this time to re-charge your (and Possum’s) batteries before the planned surgery. Then the burst of energy and focus just prior to then will carry you through the toughest part with ease. With your mum & husband (and God) supporting you; everything will be just fine. Love, Live & Laugh – It’s the moments that count most! Talula
